The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Best and Worst Dressed

So lat night saw the bar really being set for the awards season with the Golden Globe Awards. These awards usually produce some of the most beautiful dress and last night was definitely no exception. I've picked out some (a lot) of my favourite looks and then some that I think were not so great; so here we go!

Best Looks:

Sofia Vegara

Sofia wore a dark blue mermaid fishtail Vera Wang dress and statement silver diamond jewellery. This is my favourite look of the night, Sofia could honestly wear anything and she'd still look great; I love the dress, the hair, the make-up, everything!

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, one half of the Hollywood power couple, wore a pale pink floor-length Versace dress with red detailing which is complimented by her choice of a red lip. At first I wasn't sure about this look, but after seeing it again I came to the conclusion that I love it. It doesn't beat her look from last year Golden Globes but it's close!

Elle MacPherson 

Elle could have chosen any dress in the world and still worked it on the red carpet. Elle wore a Zac Posen fitted fishtail dress and a gold clutch. I absolutely love this dress and I also love how Elle kept her hair simple and didn't try anything that would usage the dress. 

Kate Beckinsale 

Kate wore a floor-length ivory Cavalli dress with embellishments throughout. This dress is so simple paired with diamond jewellery, but it works so well for Kate and her slim figure. Again following the fishtail theme on the carpet!

Charlize Theron

Carlize wore a floor-length Christian Dior Couture dress with diamond embellishments and matching clutch. This dress is just beautiful and the pale pink really compliments her pale skin tone. She combined the dress with a diamond Cartier headband and a loose side bun which add to the feline look she seems to have been going for.

Lea Michele

Lea wore a silver sequined Marchesa gown and as much as it pains me to say it, she looked really great; despite the fact she comes across as really full-of-herself on the red carpet. This dress is beautiful and with her hair pulled back, it keeps the attention on the intricate sheer/silver detailing.

Jessica Alba

Jessica wore a lilac floor-length Gucci dress and it just looked so pretty! This was one of those dresses that I think you just couldn't not like, it's simple but intricate at the same time and the trail behind just adds to the fitted shape.


Worst Looks:

Piper Perabo

Piper wore a grey/nude sheer Olivier Theyskens ball gown with a back cutout. This dress just looks like a tent; I think there's simple and then there's this. The dress did nothing for her and I just wish she'd worn something with more detailing. 

Sarah Michelle Geller

Sarah wore a layered blue and white Monique Lhuillier which really was a love it or hate it dress. I personally hated it, I think it looks like tie dye gone wrong and next time she should choose her dress herself and not let her daughter choose it! 

Frieda Pinto

Frieda wore a blue Prada dress which has a really unusual crate paper texture. The dress did suit her, I just don't like the way it poofs out at the back, not very flattering. Also it looks as if it's too big for her; that piece of ribbon is acting as the only thing holding the dress up! 

Kate Winslet

Kate wore a black and white satin dress with belt detailing. The fit of the dress just doesn't work for Kate, the top is not the right style for her figure and the bottom just go hand-in-hand with this. 

Dianna Agron

Dianna wore a red Giles dress with laser cut swans and details. This dress just looks too table clothe-like, I see what she was trying to achieving with the details but it just doesn't work for me.
