You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
To be honest, I would find it hard to respect and admire a person if they gossiped about a friend anyway, regardless if they knew I knew him/her or not. However, if they did do so, I would politely say to them; 'I don't know where you have heard this, but (name) is a friend of mine and I believe your words are untrue and without proper worth. I would then get up and leave so to not be a part of the criticism.
