CHERYL COLE COVERS GLAMOUR UK DECEMBER 2012

Gosh it seems like I event done a cover post in absolutely ages! The first of the December covers is that of Cheryl Cole who covers Glamour UK. I'm not the biggest fan of Cheryl and usually don't love her cover shoots but I have to admit sadly, that this one I like; I think the team over at Glamour have done a great job with this one.

Cheryl looks great wearing a floral pink, feathered Chanel dress and an ultra-messy top knot. This cover is very fun and festive - the gold camera - and suits the magazine so well. This issue hits newsstand on November 1st but before that you can watch her behind-the-scenes video here which features some beautiful pastel coloured dresses!

Are you a fan of Cheryl Cole's December cover of Glamour? Will you be buying this issue?

OUTFIT | KNITS AND KOALAS

Shirt: Primark
Cardigan: ... (I can't remember!)
Jeans: Topshop Leigh
Shoes: New Look (old)
Bracelet: Pandora
Nails: NYC 'Manhattan with Technic 'Carnival' glitter

Starting to dislike these dark days very very much, especially when it comes to taking photos..bring back the day light! Anyway, I had a huge gap today between classes so thought I'd snap a few photos of my outfit today. It's nothing groundbreaking but I do really like this shirt which I featured in another outfit post here (please excuse the terrible photos in that post). For Primark, this shirt is a really great quality and I just love the studded collar, even though, in this outfit it isn't really obvious it's there.

The jeans I'm wearing are from Topshop, I have a love for Leigh jeans (now having three pairs) and these are the newest editions to my wardrobe. They are just the comfiest pairs of jeans I've ever owned, glad I now have a blue pair...I really missed 'normal' coloured jeans having only had black and acid wash for ages! My pumps are just from New Look years ago; I just can't bring myself to throw them away even though I really should.

GIFTS VOUCHERS | BLOGGER CHALLENGE

During my usual evening blog scour I came across Milkteef's post on the Gifts Vouchers Blogger Challenge and thought it'd be a great competition to enter as I love buying gifts for people. I love deciding what I think each person would like and then going out to buy it knowing Christmas is literally just a few weeks or even days away!

This competition is a challenge to all bloggers, to write a post featuring at least five gifts available on the internet. Each gift must cost no more than £35. The prizes are also great too; you can win a £35 gift voucher for either Topshop, ASOS, Amazon or BooHoo, but if none of these take your fancy, you can also win a three month subscription to JolieBox instead.

So, for this challenge I decided to tailor my gifts to girls, and what I think the 'typical fashion-loving girl' would want. These are just fun, cute little gifts that I think would be perfect for Christmas!

I actually wouldn't mind all these gifts myself! I think these would pretty much work as gifts for any girl if you varied them to the individuals taste.

Bunny Socks | These were just a fun little sixth gift I added because I always get socks for Christmas and to be honest, who doesn't need socks. These are cute but also perfect for around the house as they are set knit so cosy, but also have grips on the bottom.

Vera Wang 'Princess' Perfume Set | Obviously this one you could tailor to what scents the person likes but I just thought this set was good as you get a decent sized bottle of the perfume itself and then some lotion and a keyring/lipgloss I believe. This is something a little more interesting than just receiving the perfume on its own.

Essie Nail Polishes | Essie is quite a pricing brand, but buying a couple as a gift is perfect for someone who loves nail polishes but can't really splurge on them a lot. I just picked out three colours that I'm coveting at the moment: 'Bahama Mama', 'Sand Tropez' and Splash of Grenedene'.

Cath Kidson 'Riding' Zip Bag | Everyone loves Cath Kidson, the prints are so beautiful and really, you can't go wrong with something like this. It's a perfect size to take as an overnight bag for all your essentials or you could just use it on a day-to-day basis. My personal favourite print is this riding horse print but there's loads of others, mainly florals.

Yankee Candle 'Christmas Cupcake' | I can't even tell you how long I have wanted a Christmas Yankee candle, the scents are just so indulgent around this time and are great as gifts to cosy up a room. Christmas Cookie and Sparkling Cinnamon are two others that smell amazing!

Topshop Floral Pyjamas | I don't think anyone can say they have had a Christmas where they didn't receive pyjamas. These are just such an easy but still thoughtful gift, and it's so fun choosing a design to get. I chose these ones from Topshop because I think the print is nice and they could transition well through seasons too - practical thinking.

Well that's if for my gift ideas, I hope you enjoyed this post and you maybe got some inspiration for gifts to buy! The competition ends on November 9th and winners will be announced on November 16th (there's actually two winners overall). If you want to enter the competition then check out the full rules here and if you want to know a bit more about the competition holders then go here.

WISHLIST | 003

Roll Sleeve Dress | Converse | Jumper |  Lipstick 'Innocent' | Creepers

This is only a really small wishlist because my wardrobe is pretty much complete now. I just feel like these last few things would finish it off nicely, along with some basic tops but I didn't think they'd be very interesting to include!

I really want the 'Lana Del Rey jumper' from H&M, it looks so cosy and soft but I just can't seem to find it anywhere and I hear H&M's online ordering isn't great? I also want a pair of creeper style shoes (these ones are from ebay) to wear with my frilly socks I acquired a few weeks ago and also a pair of white converse which may seem silly in the winter but they will go with so much.

I really want to jump upon the oxblood/red trend and this dress looks perfect to pair with my leather jacket, knitted cardigans and tights. And finally I really want a Topshop lipstick and this shade seems the most wearable, I'm not daring enough to wear deep reds or anything like that so I tend to stick with nudes and light pinkish shades like this one.

What's on your wishlist at the moment?

PURPLE & PINK NAIL POLISH

Vivid Violet | Purple Pulse | Manhattan | 'lilac'

Silvery Lilac | Lucky Lilac | Purple Sherbet | Shade 4

I went through a phase where I suddenly acquired a lot of lilac/purple shades but now looking at this little collection, I've realised that I don't like many of them at all.

Silvery Lilac by Barry M is a metallic, two-toned lilac polish with hints of green. Purple Sherbet by Ciate and Lucky Lilac by No 7 are both incredibly similar on the nails and are the perfect lilac shades. Manhattan by NYC is a dark maroon toned polish which is very much an autumn/winter shade.

Strawberry Ice Cream | 'pink glitter | Shocking Pink | Peach Melba | Shade 1 | Plush Pink | Jammy

I honestly thought I had so many more pink nail polishes than I actually do. I really need to get some more because I just love how feminine pink/peach is.

Peach Melba by Barry M is a favourite for a lot of people because it is the perfect, pale peach shade; a very natural looking polish. Plush Pink from Leighton Denny is a very vibrant pink colour, very barbie pink. Similar to this is Shocking Pink by Barry M which is more of a deep barbie shade. Also by Barry M is Strawberry Ice Cream which is a pastel pink and the ultimate 'girly' polish.

OUTFIT | KHAKI SKATER DRESS

Dress: Primark
Jacket: Topshop
Shoes: Shoe Zone
Watch: Michael Kors
Nails: American Apparel 'Dynasty'

I think I did quite well with my challenge from my last outfit post; only one item here is from Topshop - challenge accomplished! I actually got this dress from Primark at the weekend and it's very much like my black skater-style dress from H&M which I wore here and here as a skirt. The only obvious difference is the colour, other than that, it's the exact same style and I just think these kinds of dresses are such a staple - more so the black one - because of the simple cut and really comfortable material.

I paired the dress with my jacket from Topshop that I wear pretty much every day as it goes with absolutely everything. I kept my jewellery simple with just rose gold earrings (that you can't actually see, just use your imagination) and my rose gold Michael Kors watch which I just love worn with khaki green.

Anyway, that's it for today, I hope you all had a lovely weekend and that you're week hasn't been too bad so far! :)

GLITTER & NUDE NAIL POLISH

Gramercy Glitz | Carnival | Disco Mix | 07 | 21

Glitter glitter glitter, everyone needs some glitter in their life. Some of these glitter polishes look great over another polish and others look great on their own. I have other glitter polishes but I thought it best to include them with the colours they are rather than this post :)

Carnival by Technic is a dupe for an OPI polish and is actually my all time favourite glitter with lots of little multicoloured flecks. Number 07 from Saffron is a mixed sized silver glitter which is perfect for over darker polishes. Disco Mix is my newest Models own polish and I believe is great for an all over nail.

Supermodel | Basil Street | My Fair Lady | Nude Beige | Mushroom

Everyone needs a fair few nude nail polishes in their collection. I mean, they are perfect for days when you want a natural look, or even special occasions that need something subtle.

Supermodel by Leighton Denny is a brown toned nude that I believe could be a dupe for a Chanel polish. Nude Beige by Models own is similar to this, if not slightly lighter, and too is the perfect nude shade. My Fair Lady by Ciate is a more pink nude and is very very sheer on the nails. Mushroom from Barry M technically isn't a nude, it's more of a light brown, but I suppose is is quite neutral...

WITCH BLEMISH STICK

Witch blemish stick - Boots (£2.89)

I bought the Witch blemish stick a few weeks ago after hearing that witch hazel was good for clearing up your skin. I had my doubts; I've tried loads of blemish 'removers' before and none really work that well but after using this even just once, it blew my doubts right away!

The claim: 'Helps to break down excess oils ad fights the bacteria that cause spots.'

I would say I have slightly oily skin, especially around my t-zone area, but mostly my skin is just normal. That being said, I have been getting a few more blemishes than I'd like lately and I just hadn't found anything that gets rid of them quickly until this. The idea is that it dries up all the oils in your skin therefore helping to reduce dirt and blocked pors. When I first used it, after about an hour it had reduced redness considerably and I could see it was helping to clear my face already. Also, because it is trying to reduce the oils it did leave my skin with dry patches all over as to be expected and a moisturiser fixed that perfectly afterwards.

I would say if you already have dry skin, this may not be a good product for you as it will just highlight more so the dryness in your skin - it does however say it is good for all skins types so you could try it! If you have normal to oily skin though this will be great for you. I have found that applying this several times throughout the day works wonders and this is definitely going to be something I will repurchase - though that may not be for a year or so, you get loads!

Have you tried the Witch blemish stick? Or, have you found any other alternatives?

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

So I just had a complete lightbulb moment and realised that it was my blogs first birthday last Wednesday (10th) and I totally forgot - sad times! I thought I'd still write this post because I'm so happy with how my little blog has developed over the year; admittedly at first it was pretty bad, my grammar was terrible and my photographs weren't great but still, I can see it's come a long way since then.

I can honestly say that this year has helped me a lot in figuring out my own voice and also in really improving my writing as a whole. I actually enjoy blogging now too whereas at first I saw it as kind of a chore and I was reluctant to even start a blog, but now I'm so glad that I did and I hope to keep it going for years and years!

Last thing, thank you everyone who reads and comments on my blog and especially thank you everyone who follows it, it just makes me so happy to read your comments and I love finding new blogs to read in the process!

AMERICAN APPAREL 'NEON VIOLET'

American Apparel 'Neon Violet' - Selfridges (part of a 3 for £17 deal)
Writing this has made me realise that I haven't posted a nails post in absolutely ages; I've not really worn very exciting colours lately though because I've been trying to let my nails get a bit healthier. This nail polish is my first by American Apparel (I do have another I got at the same time) and is a very bright neon purple shade called 'Neon Violet'. I got this as part of a three for £17 deal - I kept two and gave one to my mum - which I think is super expensive for nail polish but the bottles are a really big and I technically got these for free along with my other weekend buys from Selfridges.

This polish came out completely opaque after two coats which is what I'd expect really; I would maybe do three coats for a really neon look. It was easy to apply and dried reasonably quick though it did dry matte so I used a top coat. One not so great thing was that after only three days it has started to chip considerably, maybe it's my rubbish nails or maybe it's the formula...who knows.

I don't think I would buy any more American Apparel nail polishes but this is a really lovely colour and I might try it again with three coats to see if that's better. Have you tried American Apparel Nail Lacquer? What do you think of this shade?

OUTFIT | HEADING TO THE MILITARY

Jacket: Topshop
Shirt: Topshop
Jeans: Topshop (Leigh)
Boots: Steve Madden (Selfridges)
Bracelet: Pandora
Nails: American Apparel 'Neon Violet'

It actually pains me every time I do an outfit post to write 'Topshop' so many times. I'm so sorry, I just always seem to put outfits together with pieces from there; personal challenge, next outfit post will include no Topshop (maybe one thing).

Anyway, I got the boots and the shirt at the weekend, I've written a whole post on the boots here, and the shirt was actually free. The day I went to Selfridges, it happened to be their birthday and they were giving out 20% of purchase gift cards so I ended up getting this shirt, a coat and some nail polishes free after buying my bag. Not bad really considering it was their birthday and not mine...

ELLE'S 'WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD' | BEST DRESSED

Last night saw the the women of Hollywood out in force for Elle's annual celebration and the stars certainly pulled out all the stopped in my opinion to stand out from the rest. I've chosen my four best dressed celebrities of the night and here they are (in order)...

Emma Stone
Emma attended the celebration wearing a very fun, almost neon Valentino dress with sheer sleeves and a peterpan collar. She paired it with a black clutch and a rather odd pair of dogtooth check shoes - not entirely sold on her shoe choice but I do love the dress; very age appropriate and with her blonde hair, it really makes the colour pop.

Lea Michele
Lea wore probably one of the most unusual and daring dresses of the evening, donning a black sheer Zimmerman piece with a floral bodice underneath. I like that she chose something a bit different and although I do wish the dress was sleeveless, I still think she deserves a best dressed place because she was daring enough to stand out, I mean everyone will be talking about this dress, bad or good, and I love her ombre hair too!

Nina Dobrev
Nina didn't fail to impress yet again wearing a striking blue and lace Vera Wang dress with Jimmy Choo shoes. I always love Nina's looks, and this one is no exception, the high neck and the hem of the dress work perfectly together and her simple accessories don't distract from the lace detailing. The only thing I would say is I wish she had worn her hair up instead, it's a bit distracting and is far too flat for my liking.

Julianne Hough
Julianne's look, as with Lea's, leans to the unusual side wearing a Calvin Klein dress and like shoes. Now although the dress could use a little reworking (namely the top), I do love her look overall and her hair and make-up combination is very on trend with the dark lip and plait. I can tell this will be a love it or hate it look but I am positively on the love it side; it's different and the colour is lovely.

So that's it, there were a few other looks I really liked but these are definitely my top four. Do you agree with my choices and who was your best dressed of the night?

NASHVILLE | TV

*possible minor spoilers*

Is it just me who's noticed this or are musical TV shows all the rage at the moment. This time ABC has jumped on the bandwagon with it's newest show Nashville, that stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere as a pair of country singers who find themselves pushed together by their record label.

Before the show aired it was deemed country music's version of Glee or Smash with the cast randomly bursting into song at any available moment. This however couldn't be further from what this show is about, instead it is very much drama centred giving you an insight into the industry with songs placed at appropriate times for an added entertainment factor.

The first episode of the series focused heavily on Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) who is a mom, a wife and a very successful country singer who is now deemed as becoming 'irrelevant' by her record label. They feel the only way her time at the label can continue is if she joins onto the tour of Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) who is a extremely popular 20-something country pop singer. We discover that Rayna isn't happy about opening for Juliette and that she feels she sounds like 'ferel cats'; she is however the number one selling artist of the moment.

Panettiere's character is very much the mean girl, passing out her orders and acting like a spoil brat; that is until she is around the male characters whom she seduces one after the other taken or not.  It is implied though that this behaviour stems from her childhood brought up with a drug addict for a mother. Britton's character however is that of a strong woman who knows what she wants but isn't the diva her younger rival is. We even see a scene in the episode where she puts hers and her fathers differences aside to support her husbands bid to be Mayor. She is very much certain that she is not becoming irrelevant and isn't afraid to tell the label that.

The episode as a whole opened doors to various possible story lines - one being the inevitable love triangle involving Rayna's guitarist, Deacon (Charles Esten), who we learn could actually have been her soul mate before she chose her current husband. Another interesting storyline we see involves Deacon's niece, Scarlett (Clare Bowen), who works at the cities famous Bluebird Cafe and writes poetry in her spare time. It isn't until it is pointed out that her words could be lyrics and we see this in action during a duet between her and the cafes sound guy. This opening doors for an interesting story and one that I'm certain will be explored in great depth.

I really enjoyed the first episode of Nashville and couldn't recommend it highly enough, even if you aren't a fan of country music, you will definitely enjoy the developing story lines and the brilliant relationships that are forming between the characters. If you do watch, or have already, let me know what you think!

STEVE MADDEN TARNNEY BOOTS

Steve Madden Tarnney Boots - Selfridges

I've heard a lot about Steve Madden shoes but I've never actually seen any for myself. Yesterday however, whilst walking round Selfridges (celebrating their birthday with a free gift voucher!) I saw the Steve Madden stand and was drawn instantly to these boots because of the amazing studded detailing around the toe and heel. Now these boots definitely won't be to everyones taste but I just love them so so much, especially the studs and the way they can be worn upright or folded down for a more slouchy look.

When I saw these in store I didn't think I'd ever be able to get them though because of the sizes. I'm usually a size 9 (which is the worst when trying to find nice shoes), and these boots only go up to a size 8 so I was a bit disheartened on hearing that. I still went ahead anyway and tried them on and much to my surprise they fitted perfectly and I knew then I just had to have them. I actually wore them today and they are super comfortable; the leather will definitly need to wearing in first though before they can be worn for a long time.

These are definitely statement boots and I got quite a few looks today; some people I could tell thought they were horrible! I like them though so that's all that matters, they were an investment shoe but well worth it in my opinion and you'll without a doubt be seeing these in an outfit of the day post very soon!

What are your thoughts on the Steve Madden Tarnney boots? Would you wear them yourself?

LOUIS VUITTON NEVERFULL GM | DAMIER EBENE

Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM in Damier Ebene

This weekend I came home from university for a few days and today took a trip to Manchester with the plan to head to Selfridges and have a look at the Louis Vuitton store there. I have actually been counting down to this day for a week now - exciting! Anyway, as you can probably tell, I did end up making a purchase and came away with this beautiful bag that I just love.

I originally had my heart set on the Speedy 35 which has been my dream bag for such a long time but when I got to the store, they showed me that and then this one and I chose this one straight away, its funny how things work out. I definitely would say go in store if you're going to get a bag, or anything really, because they can look so different online to in real life.

I went for the dark print because it isn't as in your face as the traditional tan colour and the red inside was a big selling point too! Another thing that made me choose this bag was the way it can change to two different shapes for a bigger or smaller look, it is a huge bag - which works well because of my height - but being able to take it in at the sides is such a plus for days when you don't want to carry as much. Ahhh I'm just too excited right now! Sadly this bag won't be coming back with me to university for a while, I'll have to wait until Christmas when I drive home to take it back there with me...
