New TV Shows of 2011

This year certainly hasn't been disappointing in the TV department. From a family travelling 85 million years into the past to fairytale characters being trapped in our world, we have seen action, romance, sadness and excitement on our screens in a whole new way this year which have emoted tears, laughter and even anger...

These are just the most common/popular/known series of this year; my favourites are Terra Nova, Necessary Roughness and Once Upon a Time, which are yours?

Which is your favourite new TV show of 2011?

25+ Book Challenge

I wish my books looked like these! (source: weheartit)

I've suddenly become really interested in books. Every time I've started a book in the past I've got a few chapters in and then just given up and never gone back to it. Lately though I've finished two books within a short space of time and I've enjoyed reading them which I never thought I'd say. So for 2012 I've decided to undertake my own challenge to read 25+ books during the year. This will seem like nothing to a lot of people but for me this is a realistic goal because I have never really been an avid reader until recently and I also have to think about university work and other things; if I end up reading more than 25 books then that's a bonus!

I've been reading up on these challenges and pretty much any book is allowed that can be purchased including manga, ebooks, audio books etc. Once I finish a book I will cross it off my list and then review it here on my blog. I really enjoy writing reviews and I'm already getting excited about this challenge to start on Sunday.

Here's my list of the books I intend to read (in no particular order), this list may be edited throughout the year but at this moment this is it...

1. Modelland - Tyra Banks
2. Many Lives - Stephanie Beacham Autobiography
3. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
4. Divergent - Veronica Roth
5. The Descendants - Kaui Hart Hemmings
6. The Audacity of Hope - Barack Obama
7. Fifty Shades of Grey - E L James
8. Changing Grooms - Sasha Wagstaff
9. The Sinner - Tess Gerritsen
10. Body Double - Tess Gerritsen
11. Vanish - Tess Gerritsen
12. The Mephisto Club - Tess Gerritsen
13. Keeping The Dead - Tess Gerritsen
14. The Killing Place - Tess Gerritsen
15. The Silent Girl - Tess Gerritsen
16. Game of Thrones - George R R Martin
17. Matched - Ally Condie
18. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
19. Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
20.  Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins
21. Poor Little Bitch Girl - Jackie Collins
22. LA Candy - Lauren Conrad
23. The Truth About Diamonds - Nicole Richie
24. Lethal Seduction - Jackie Collins

Best Dresses of 2011

,This year we have certainly seen some stunning dresses hitting the red carpets worn by some of the most beautiful celebrities. I have just picked a few that I think really stand out and deserve some recognition.

Angelina Jolie at the Golden Globes wearing a sequin green Versace gown.

Nina Dobrev at the Emmys wearing a red Donna Karan gown.

Blake Lively at the 100th episode Gossip Girl celebration wearing a Grecian-style
embellished Marchesa gown.

Taylor Swift at the Met Ball wearing a lace detail J. Mendel gown.

Amy Adams at the Golden Globes wearing a one-shoulder Marchesa gown.

Olivia Wilde at the Golden Globes wearing a stunning embellished Marchesa
ballgown.

Catherine Zeta-Jones at the Golden Globes wearing a emerald green layered Monique L'Huillier gown.

Emma Watson at the London Harry Potter premiere wearing an Oscar de la Renta ballgown.

Miley Cyrus at the Grammy Awards wearing a sequined Roberto Cavalli dress.

Kate Middleton at her wedding to Prince William wearing a custom-made Sarah Burton
 for Alexander McQueen dress.

Sandra Bullock at the Oscars wearing a red satin Vera Wang gown.

It is clear that the Golden Globes showcased some of the most beautiful dresses of the year with others including Anne Hathway wearing Armani, Lea Michele wearing Oscar de la Renta and Emma Stone wearing Calvin Klein.

Two looks that I cannot get out of my head this year for a less than positive reason is that of Nicki Minaj at the MTV Video Music Awards and Marisa Tomei at the Oscars wearing Charles James. Both looks are just disasters; Nicki looks as though she was trying to channel Lady Gaga but she failed miserably and Marisa's dress is nice from the waist up, but the waist down just looks too puffy and a unflattering.

Do you agree with my best dresses of the year? Is there anyone I didn't mention whose dress you liked?

It's been a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas has been and gone now which is super sad! There's all this build-up beforehand and then after a day (or two!) it's over....I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas weekend however you spent it and today I just thought I'd share with you how I spent mine... (photo heavy!)

I woke up properly at about 5:30am and then just stared at the clock until 7am....yes I get excited! Then came present time! Our presents went from this:

To this:

I just love ripping open wrapping paper...I'm not one of those people who does it oh so carefully to save the paper...I just go straight for it! I got some really nice presents this year from my parents...here are a few of them...

Ionika 'Rebellious Tattoo' Hair Straighteners

Tangle Teezer - PINK!

Vampire Diaries calendar - I love this show so so much!

These three jumpers are all from New Look and I love them all! I really needed some winter/warmer jumpers and these are just perfect! I'm now on a mission to find a black chiffon shirt to go underneath the red one...

Stephanie Beacham Autobiography - I'm looking forward to reading this so much! Floral travel/make-up bag/purse/anything I want them to be! Marc B navy bag with gold hardware - this is one of my favourite bags that I own now!

I also got a lot of socks (I love socks!), some perfume, chocolate and some other little things (:

THEN, on Boxing Day me and my mum went to The Trafford Centre for a nosey around and it was heaving!! People were parked on the pavements, the grass, the main road and everywhere and then walking around was just manic; you couldn't even move. I did however manage to get myself a few things including a chunky aztec cardigan I'd seen on the Internet previously (this was my mission of the day).

I did get the cardigan *happy dance* and it was reduced from £45 to just £20 which is a bargain - it's from Miss Selfridge for all those who want to know.

I also got two necklaces from Accessorize and some earrings from Selfridges which are so unusual!

I've seen this necklace every time I've gone into Accessorize and each time the thought of paying £15 has completely made me walk away, but yesterday it was in the sale for £7!

I told you they are unusual! I saw them and reduced down to £3 I had to have them...

Finally we went to Lush and they were have a 50% off sale on christmas products so I got myself the big bottle of snow fairy and another Abominaball snowman ballistic after my last one crumbled :'( I also got the Twilight ballistic because everyone raves about it so much...

Back to Christmas day now and after opening presents my dad started preparing and cooking Mr Turkey Lurkey - we always call turkeys that for some reason! *WARNING!* Any vegetarians look away now!

My dads skilled turkey cutting technique...I didn't want to go anywhere near that thing while it still had legs - and ugly legs at that!

Vegetables and potatoes :D (and that yellowy stuff in the pan is chicken soup, not custard which is what I thought it was lol)

I LOVE stuffing! I could literally just sit and eat stuffing...on its own....just like it is in this photo....
Finally we could eat! woohoo!

My mum made enough mash potato to feed a small nation....not to worry though because mash is my favourite!

Right I need to ask this, I don't like Christmas pudding, so I opted for mince pies instead but I don't like the custard all over the mince pies so I had them separately...does anyone else do this? This can't just be me! I do it with all my food...nothing can touch and I can't have gravy because it just mixes everything together...please, someone out there say they do this too!

After dinner we just watched some movies and relaxed...Christmas Day was super fun this year and Boxing Day was also great spent at my Grandma and Grandads house :D

Once again, I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas with the ones you love...and I hope you ate lots of lovely food! haha

xoxo
