FLORENCE WELCH COVERS HARPER'S BAZAAR UK

For the July issue of Harper's Bazaar UK we see British singer Florence Welch as the cover star, seemingly perfect to represent the summer months and festivals approaching. Florence is photographed on both  the newsstand and subscribers issue wearing a sheer, floral-print dress from the Valentino Haute Couture Spring 2012 collection.

I have to say, although I'm not a fan of Florence or her other covers in the past - I'm looking at you Vogue - I do really like these two covers; more so the subscribers issue (typical) but the newsstand is also good. I predict from watching the behind-the-scenes video that the accompanying editorial is also going to be great with a rather soft and romantic feel to it.

What do you think of Florence Welch's July cover of Harper's Bazaar UK? Will you be buying this issue?

CHARLIZE THERON AND KRISTEN STEWART COVER INTERVIEW

Although I am not Kristen Stewarts biggest fan (understatement!), I was thrilled when I saw that Interview Magazine shot her and Charlize Theron for its June\July issue. There's no denying that this shoot is quite amazing and in perfect time for the release of Snow White and the Huntsman.

Shot by Mikael Jansson and styled by Karl Templer, this whole shoot has a real dark and vampire-esque feel to it which both Charlize and Kristen seem to take on well (Kristen has had practice though *cough* Breaking Dawn *cough*). You can see the editorial and both Charlize and Kristen's interviews here.

What are your thoughts on Interview's June/July cover? Will you be buying this issue?

TED SAYS: "THE MORE YOU GIVE THE MORE YOU GET"

Ted Baker RONNEE Heart Matinee Purse - £69

I have recently started a full time job for the summer and with my first weeks wages I decided to treat myself to this beauty. My old purse was falling apart and I thought I should invest in a good quality one that will last me a long time (that's the hope anyway).

I got to the Ted Baker section in Selfridges at the weekend, right when the store opened and stood for about half an hour contemplating which colour to get and trying to pick out one that didn't have a dint, scratch, mark etc on it (which most did!). I finally settled on pink - if you didn't already guess - after initially leaning towards the lime green. Pink, for me, is a timeless colour that I will always love, surprisingly when I was younger though I actually hated anything pink...

I just love all the little touches this purse has, from the box it came in (sorry, I forgot to take a photo of it, but I did instgram it if you want to see - iamEmmaWilde) to the quote from Ted and the heart 'TB' clasps.

Would you spend this much on a purse/wallet? Have you ever treated yourself just because?

I WAS SCREAMING LONG LIVE ALL THE MAGIC WE MADE...

Finally we have some sun here in the UK. Well, we've had sun for the past week or so but sadly, having a job that keeps you indoors all day, means that you don't get to appreciate it...So yesterday I took full advantage and spent the day in the garden absorbing some much needed rays (my skin was looking rather pale!) and eating lots of BBQ food mmmmmm. On sunny days especially I find myself, camera in hand, drawn to all the pretty things around me and I do tend to get a little snap happy as you can probably tell. I need to document this kind of weather though because it'll probably go back into hibernation soon!

Well, I hope you all had a lovely weekend as I did and enjoy the sun while it's here...unless it's raining where you are of course haha....

DAVID BECKHAM COVERS ELLE UK

As many of you may already know, David Beckham was chosen to feature on the July cover of Elle UK as the first ever solo male cover star in honour of the upcoming olympic games. I'm slightly confused as to if both the above covers are for the newsstand and the subscribers is yet to be released, or if one of these is in fact the subscribers cover....either way I'm not really sure which cover I prefer....

Elle UK editor, Lorraine Candy, said: "David Beckham is a national hero... He is an icon and Elle is known for featuring icons on its cover. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike. Anyway, who doesn’t want to see a picture of one of the world’s most handsome men on the front cover of a magazine? It will be a collector’s issue."

This issue hits newsstands on Wednesday (30th), but if you just cannot wait that long then you can check out the teaser trailer here for a quick sneak peek. I finally got around to subscribing to Elle this month so I'm super excited to see the cover shot because the newsstand one is great!

Do you like David Beckham's Elle UK covers? Which do you prefer? Would you like to see more male cover stars?

**I have since discovered (I think) that the top cover is the collectors subscribers cover and the bottom is the newsstand...I'm quite pleased about that...**

BLAKE LIVELY'S BULLET MAGAZINE SHOOT - VOLUME II SUMMER

(source)

This shoot of Blake Lively for Bullet Magazine's summer issue is just stunning. I'll admit, before I stumbled across this shoot, I hadn't heard of bullet Magazine before but from what I can gather, it's released like LOVE magazine, seasonally? (tell me if I wrong haha)...

Blake is photographed by David Slijper and covers the magazine wearing a Chanel tulle dress. Her other looks come from Lanvin, Prada and more Chanel. My personal favourite is where she dons a white dress with a silver, seemingly metal, peplum style detail. It seems she can do no wrong when it comes to being behind a camera!

Are you a fan of Blake Lively? What do you think of her Bullet Magazine shoot?

NEUTROGENA VISIBLY CLEAR PINK GRAPEFRUIT DAILY SCRUB

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub - £4.95 (boots and wilkinsons)

The Claim: An uplifting daily facial scrub with powerful MicroClear® technology and exfoliating micro-beads, the formula unclogs pores to clean deeply and help eliminate spots and blemishes. The refreshing scrub gently purifies the skin without overdrying, while a wave of pink grapefruit uplifts the senses with a burst of invigorating freshness.

My Thoughts: This daily scrub is by far the best daily face product I've ever used. You literally need a pea sized amount, applied to a wet face, and it lathers up so so well and leaves your face feeling really fresh and clean. I also like the fact it's a scrub which, as the name suggests, allows you to scrub your face with the tiny exfoliating beads that in my personal opinion, really do help to clean your pores thoroughly.

Another thing I love about this product is that it doesn't leave my face dry and flaky like I've found with some daily washes/scrubs; this was the biggest surprise for me seeing as it is a scrub and not just a wash. I used it twice daily and only after using it for two weeks did I start to notice slight flaky patches around my nose - to be expected really.

One thing I have to mention though is the smell. It is called 'pink grapefruit' and although I haven't ever smelt a grapefruit before (pink or any colour!), I can almost guarantee that the smell of this is not the smell of the actual fruit. When I smell this all that spring to mind is bathroom cleaner which on your face, isn't really the best thing. So I say no to the smell, it really doesn't 'uplift my senses' but it does however leave me with an 'invigorating freshness' feel.

I would highly highly recommend this daily scrub to anyone who wants a nice, simply daily scrub to help clean pours, clear up blemishes and leave your skin feeling super fresh, and at around the £4.95 price mark, I'd say it's well worth it!

Have you tried Neutrogena's pink grapefruit scrub? Do you have any daily wash/scrub recommendations?

APOLOGIES...

Hi guys,

So you may or may not have noticed, I've not been around for a couple of days now which is so unlike me. The reason for my sudden disappearance is because I have been welcomed into the real world in the form of a full time 9-6 job whilst I'm off university for the summer. This has been a harsh wake up call for me, I'm not used to it and it's honestly been the most tiring thing I've ever done. I'm sat at a desk all day, starring at a computer screen, credit checking person after person...not the most enthralling of jobs but I've just got to stick with it no matter how sole destroying it may be.

Soon I should start to get used to it and not feel as tired when I get home which means I'll have more motivation to write some posts for you lovely people to read :) I hope you'll forgive my absence, I'm certain it won't be for much longer...

If you do want to hear from me and read the goings on in my life then do follow me on twitter...I may be absent from here but Twitter will never be neglected haha...

xo Emma

KRISTEN STEWART COVERS ELLE US

First Kristen Stewart lands the Elle UK June Cover and now she gets the June cover of Elle US, she's doing well for herself! Just in time for the release of her latest movie Snow White and the Huntsman (which looks amazing may I add!), she covers Elle US wearing a sequin embellished Ralph Lauren dress. Now I like this cover but I don't love it, I actually prefer Elle UK's cover which is unusual for me, but don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong at all with this one.

Kristen discusses in her interview her favourite books, her shielded upbringing, and why she dislikes riding horses; “I hated it. I didn’t take to the whole mentality of f**king ordering that thing around – ‘Go now!’ You have to be an a**hole, basically. Not to say that horse people are a**holes to their horses. But you have to basically tell that thing who’s boss, and I didn’t want to do that. I was like, ‘No, do your thing. I don’t even want to be up here.’”

I can't help but notice that she has a rather large attitude problem a lot of the time and her interviews always frustrate me when I read them, she needs to moan less about her fortunate lifestyle! That aside, Kristen is doing really well for herself lately and so more power to her!

What do you think of the Elle US June cover? Will you be buying this issue?

MAYBELLINE COLOUR TATTOO 24HR CREAM GEL EYESHADOW

Maybelline by Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Eyeshadow available at boots and super drug - £4.99

I'm a bit late with this one but honestly, I wasn't planning on buying any of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo's because I thought they were just another overrated product...oh how I was wrong! I picked up On and On Bronze (a copper, brown shade with some shimmer) because it was the most neutral colour they had at the time; I'm definitely not daring enough to try some of the brights like the blue and purples shades!

I swatched On and On Bronze when I got home and immediately thought it'd be way too dark to wear all over the lid but much to my surprise, it is the perfect all-over shade which is super super pigmented and very blend-able. This little pot of greatest is super easy to apply, I just use my ring finger as I found it works just as well as a brush, if not better. I then added a subtle corner highlight and a light shade over the top to soften and give a gradient effect.

The question you may all be wondering, do they really last 24hours? Well, can I just say, who wears make-up for 24hours?! If anyone out there does then please let me know. This did however last me a good 7-8 hours without smudging or creasing and trust me, trying to remove a swatch of this is definitely a challenge!

I think these Mabelline Colour Tattoo's are really worth the £4.99 price because they will most definitely last a long time and the staying power is just beyond, especially from a high street brand. I would quite like to try out Eternal Gold also which is a much lighter, gold colour (doh, the name kind of explains it haha) that would look great as a corner highlight.

Have you tried out any of these? Which is your favourite shade?

THE SINNER - TESS GERRITSEN

I've been a bit slow on the reading front lately what with having a million essays to complete! Now that my first year is completely finished I should be able to make up some reading during the summer.

Anyway, I finished Tess Gerritsen's The Sinner at the weekend and to sum it up in a few words: an absolutely amazing book! I think this has to be my favourite book I've read so far, it was brilliant and had me completely gripped, so much so, that I read it in three days which for me is pretty quick!

This book confirmed that Tess Gerritsen is my favourite author. The way she writes is just so gripping and you literally find yourself involved in the book. At one point I was so involved that when my phone beeped I nearly fell off my bead haha.

This book is the third in the Rizzoli and Isles series (the first two are also great). It tells the story of a murder and an attempted murder of two nuns who live behind the walls of a convent. Dr Maura Isles is put on the case and during the autopsy of nun she discovers a shocking secret. Side by side to this is the murder of another woman whose killer has gone to the trouble of removing her face, hands and feet. Working alongside Detective Jane Rizzoli, they lead an investigation into the deaths of both women making a shocking discovery about the killer.

Thats basically the story in a nut shell, what I liked is that the book didn't just focus on one murder, and instead focused on two (three sometimes) which added weight to the book whilst still keeping each case relevant to one another. Also what made me like this book more than the first two was that we got a real insight into who Jane and Maura are as characters - more so Maura as this book mainly focuses on her - which was lacking in the first two. Maura has her personal life to balance with her work in the form of her ex-husband Victor who turns up unannounced and tries to get back in her life. It is them revealed he has more business in Boston than just seeing Maura.
Jane's life is further explored more in the latter half of the book when Agent Gabriel Dean turns up and she is faced with confronting her feelings for him and her new 'situation'.

I can't express enough how much I enjoyed this book. Tess has a certain way of writing that just keeps to completely gripped without it being predictable at all like a lot of crime thrillers can be. A word of warning for people that get scared easily like myself, do not read this book at night in a quiet room...I jumped out of my skin several times haha.

As I have said, I would highly recommend this book, even if crime/thriller isn't your thing. I didn't think I'd enjoy reading these types of books  but since have found I enjoy them more than any books in have ever read.

THE 2012 MET GALA: BEST AND WORST

The Met Gala was definitely a night of spectacular fashion, spectacular people and spectacular atmosphere. Every one in attendance had clearly made their best effort to look good and in some it really did pay off *cough* Sofia Vergara and Nina Dobrev *cough*, but for some, their looks just weren't working...what ever angle you looked from! So here's a look at my best and worst dressed stars of the night...

Best

Sofia Vergara
Sofia never disappoints me with her choice of dresses. Wearing an ivory embroidered Marchesa gown with exaggerated peplum detail and fitted almost fishtail skirt, this dress is simply beautiful. Paired with the Harry Winston jewels it’s a very understated look, different from her usual bold colour choices. Definitely one of my best dressed of the night.

Nina Dobrev
Nina looked stunning wearing a black and gold silk Donna Karan Atelier gown that had quite an extreme train to it. She went simple with an up-do and H. Stern earrings that just finished off the whole look. This look was not a surprise to me at all, Nina always chooses the perfect dress and for her first ever Met Gala appearance she really did great.

Brooklyn Decker
I adore this dress. Brooklyn went for a periwinkle blue silk Tory Burch gown with embroidered floral print and tulle detailing. She went with a simple up-do and understated earrings that complimented the dress well. I don’t know what it is but her whole look for me is one of the best of the night.

Beyonce Knowles
I can tell Beyoncé’s Givenchy Haute Couture gown is going to be a real love/hate for people. I happen to think this dress is beautiful; the sheer black embroidered body really do compliment the purple feathered train well. Beyoncé went with a simple pulled back up that didn’t add to the already busy dress.

Ashley Greene
Ashley wore a custom Donna Karan gown in a beautiful off-white shade. The dress was jewel-encrusted and heavily embellished around the top which followed into the chiffon skirt nicely. She paired the dress with a simple clutch, drop earrings and natural waved hair. She got it so right with this look!

(Other looks I liked included; Jessica Alba, Camille Belle and Amy Adams)

Worst

Kristen Stewart
Kristen went from being crowned Glamour’s best dress woman to wearing this last night. She chose a Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere dress which looks completely mismatched what with the printed Tetris-like top and the colour-block skirt then paired with the un-matching white heels, what was going through her head when this look was put together? Worst dressed of the night for me.

Mary-Kate Olsen
This one sort of explains itself. What an earth was Mary-Kate thinking with this black, long sleeved cover-up dress by her own label, The Row. It drowns her tiny frame and washes her out completely and then the hair; was she going for a period gothic look?

Leighton Meester
Leighton wore a gold embroidered Marchesa gown with a fully-fledged tulle shirt. Now is it just me or is her skin almost the exact same colour as the dress…and not in a good way! She looks very golden bronzed and that paired with the complete gold dress really is qhite over powering and it completely washes her out. In a different colour this dress could have looked great.

Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker usually gets it so right but I can’t help but be confused by her choice of dress last night. She chose to cover up in a floral print Valentino gown that boded a full length skirt and sleeves. This dress almost buries her; I wish she’d gone for something shorter or at least more flattering.

Christina Ricci
Christina wore a black and crème strapless Thakoon dress which housed a pretty impressively large bow at the back. She looks like a badly wrapped gift; what with the messy slanted bow and the trail of ribbon behind, it’s just horrible. At least she kept her hair and make-up simple!

Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth chose to wear a pale blue Prada dress with a halter neck and a drop-hem back. From what I've read, most people seem to love this dress but to me it looks more like something you’d wear to go to bed and not the Met Gala, but I suppose pyjamas are on trend so why not this? I was so looking forward to seeing what Gwyenth would wear after her Oscar’s look. Disappointment!

Undecided

Lana Del Rey
I’m torn with this look. Lana wore a custom silver sequinned Joseph Altuzarra gown with a sheer black cape. I can’t help but think of Gwyneth Paltrow’s caped Tom Ford gown when I see this; Lana opted for a darker, more ‘sinister’ looking version though with the blacks and dark vampire make-up which is swaying me to liking it. I want your opinions on this one…Are you a fan?

Emma Stone
Does pixie spring to anyone else's mind when you look at this? She looks too 'cutesy' and less sophisticated like she normally does. Emma is wearing a red structured, puffed Lanvin dress that is heavily embellished. This plus the messy up do and ballerina pose all make me immediately think of either a pixie or one of those ballerinas that spin round and round in music boxes. However, a part of me does like parts of this look....

So, those are my best and worst dressed of the evening. Who wore your favourite look and who didn't quite tickle your fancy?
