NAILS | MODELS OWN DISCO MIX

Models Own 'Disco Mix' & Rimmel 'Purple Pulse'

I'm actually really annoyed at how badly these nails photographed using my camera; they were just too terrible to put up so I thought I'd use an instagram photo instead which really does do them justice.

I wanted to do my nails a bit christmassy without using red and/or green so I thought glitter was the next best option. I've had Disco Mix by Models Own for a while now but haven't gotten around to using it until now. I really alternating nail colours, this could become my signature nail look I think. Anyway, the polish itself applied really well and needed three coats to be completely opaque which for glitter isn't bad at all. The purple colour on my other nails is by Rimmel and isn't all that great to be honest, but it's the only colour I had that would go with the glitter so it'll do.

I can't stop starring at my nails, I love them so so much! I'm excited to try out more glitter combinations, do you have any recommendations?

RIMMEL'S KATE MOSS MATTE LIPSTICK | 107

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick - Boots (£5.49)

I realise I'm late to the party with this one, but I have honestly been meaning to pick up one of the shades from the Rimmel Kate Moss matte collection since they were released back in October. I felt like I wanted to wait and see what others thought first and then base my choice on that and so, that is why I ended up getting the deep red shade in 107.

Normally I tend to stick to nudes and lighter, less daring shades, but I thought I'd go out of my comfort zone a bit and pick up this one which really seems to be a cult favourite at the moment. When I first applied this lipstick it shocked me a little as I'm not used to darker colours, but after a while, it started to grow on me and now I really like it. Although it's a matte formulation, it's not drying at all and the finish is a softer, smoother looking matte than other lipsticks I've tried. It also goes on the lips easily and it lasts for quite a while before you need to reapply; I'd say around three to four hours!

I would highly recommend this lipstick if you are looking for a dark berry red shade, that's matte but not drying at all. I much prefer the offerings of this Kate Moss collection and I'm hoping to pick up a few more of the shades soon. Have you tried any from the collection that you'd recommend?

RIMMEL STAY MATTE PRESSED POWDER

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Boots (£3.99)
I bought this powder to keep my face looking matte (as it says) because I find that with any foundation, certain areas of my face always end up looking a tad shiny after a while.

I chose the shade 'sandstorm' but to be honest, it doesn't really show up at all so I don't suppose it'd matter what shade you got, if you have a light to medium skin tone. This is definitely a very lightweight powder and it feels so smooth when applied and doesn't give you that awful cakey look that you could get from some other pressed powders. It does do the job of keeping the face matte for a good four to five hours, but I'd advise reapplying after maybe two if you have extra oily skin.

I don't wear foundation everyday but when I do this is definitely a must for me and it's the first thing I've ever hit pan on! Have you tried this powder? Do you have any recommendations that you have tried?

RIMMEL WAKE ME UP FOUNDATION

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - Boots

After hearing so many glowing (ironic?) reviews about this foundation on both blogs and youtube, I decided to take the £8.99 plunge and just buy it - I have since discovered that Bots are now selling it for £6.99 on a special £2 off Rimmel products deal.

After using this foundation now for I think around three weeks, I can honestly say it's well worth the money. It feels very light weight on your skin which is surprising considering it's a medium to possibly full coverage product, and it leaves you with a dewy glow that isn't matte but isn't shiny - a happy medium I'd say. The idea behind the 'wake me up' part of this foundation lies with the tiny flecks of glitter in the foundation itself  that Rimmel claims: 'lifts skin from fatigue with a healthy, radiant glow.' It does make your skin feel more glowing in my opinion and although the glitter is noticeable on the skin (see above photo) it isn't that noticeable that you look like a disco ball.

I was concerned when purchasing this foundation that there would be a limited colour range as I've heard people say that quite frequently but when it came down to it, I think, although there won't be an exact match for everyone, I think there are enough shades to find one that will work. I ended up going with Natural Beige which for me is perfect; it's a tad darker than my skin tone but not too much that I look orange.

Also, I just love the packaging; for a drug store product, the glass bottle is very sturdy and the pump is great and so much easier to work with. One thing which is definitely a love hate bout this product I've noticed s the bright orange lid - I personally love it, especially the glitter flecks too, but I know a lot of people think this makes it look cheap? I just love everything about the packaging.

I know I'm no expert when it comes to this but I jet wanted to share my thoughts. I really would recommend this foundation; it has great coverage, a great finish and it has SPF15 which is an added bonus! One thing I would say though is if you have oilier skin you may need a matte powder over the top as it isn't oil-free and therefore I doubt it would last as long on the skin without.

RIMMEL MOISTURE RENEW LIPSTICK IN VINTAGE PINK

Vintage Pink 180 - Boots £6.29

A couple of weeks ago I read about Rimmel's Vintage Pink lipstick and how great it was, so that in mind, I set off to Boots to buy my own. Lately my love for lip products is growing more and more; I'd say I'm definitely a lipstick person now, although, I'm no daring enough to wear bright reds or fuchsia's just yet!

Anyway, I bought vintage pink and immediately fell in love with it. It is definitely more of an autumn/winter shade I feel but it's still wearable now especially in the UK as our summer is non-existent. The colour is a very deep mauve/plum purple that definitely leans more to the pink side on my lips but I have seen it on others as a more plum coloured shade.

True to its 'moisture renew' name, this lipstick is very very moisturising and very creamy on the lips and surprisingly has good staying power which you wouldn't normally expect from such a creamy product. The pigmentation is great and again, varies depending on your natural lip pigmentation. This is definitely the most daring lipstick I own - other than a red which I don't dare to wear.

As for the packaging; I know a lot of people think it's quite tacky/cheap/drugstore-ish but I personally really like the purple tube. It definitely stands out from my other lipsticks and I think it's a fun alternative to an ordinary tube. Although it's plastic, the packaging does seem sturdy and the lid clicks in place which I like. Obviously I haven't shown the lipstick across the room or anything like that so I can't say just how sturdy it is, but for in your handbag it's fine.

This is definitely one of my favourite lipsticks and come autumn/winter, I can see this will be my go-to shade. I'm keen to try some more of the moisture renew shades if you have any suggestions. Also, I'd love some mauve/pink toned suggestions too!

Have you tried Vintage Pink by Rimmel?

CLOTHES BEAUTY & A BIT OF RANDOM

I finally went shopping yesterday; it has been so long, and I thought I'd show you what I got!
For some reason refereeing comes to mind when I see this Primark blouse.
But hey, I like it still!

Black Vans.

Topshop Pink Skull Earrings (reduced yay!)
Technic Nail Polish in...glitter?!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (Natural Beige).
Cherry Carmex Lip Balm.
QVC Foundation Brush.

Marie Claire - Ciate 'Purple Sherbet'.
Harper's Bazaar - Leighton Denny 'Plush Pink'.

I realise I didn't buy the ever sought after Glamour with Benefit issue BUT I will be getting it soon as my grandma kindly got hold of a copy for me with the Bad Gal mascara.

I'm going to see if I can find the primer anywhere...doubtful though!
I love how many magazines are giving free gifts this month.

Well thats it! That's everything I bought; not a great deal but I did splurge a tad with the Vans. They were an impulse buy. Sort of.

What's in my bag?

I personally love reading 'What's in my bag?' posts so I thought i'd do one of my own. The bag I'm currently using is a black 'bumpy' LYDC satchel which is perfect for me whilst at university!

I have wanted an LYDC satchel for ages and when my mum told me a few weeks ago that she'd bought me one I was ecstatic. I like that this isn't just a plain, boring satchel; it has zip detailing along the bottom and embossed bumps all over it.

Anyway, onto what's in my bag...

- Headphones
- River Island purse
- Soap & Glory hand food
- Spotty umbrella
- Glamour magazine (mini)
- Memory stick
- Carex hand sanitizer
- Cupcake notebook
- My iPhone 4
- Nail file
- Pen
- Extra chewing gum
- Vaseline pink tin
- Kate Moss lipstick
- Rimmel concealer
- Soap & Glory 'perfume'
- Empty camera case - which would have my camera in it normally

So, my bag isn't really that full to be honest but it has everything in it that I might need on a day-to-day basis.

Now for a closer look at some things...

I'm new to the Soap & Glory world but I can happily say I've soon become a fan! The 'Hand Food' was the only product I'd really ever heard of and since buying it, it has made my hands feel so soft and it smells soooo good which is a bonus! The 'Mist You Madly' perfume was part of a 2 for 1 offer and I did't fancy anything else so I chose that. It too smells really nice and it's easier to carry around in my bag than a full size perfume bottle would be.

I'm not really a lipstick wearer to be honest. In fact I don't really wear any make-up at all, but when I saw Kate Moss had teamed up with Rimmel to make a lipstick, I thought I'd make an exception! Well what can I say, I absolutely love this lipstick, it is subtle but still noticeable at the same time which is perfect for me. The shade is 03 'Rossetto/Rouge A Levres' and it is a very pale salmon colour.

My iPhone 4 is my one necessity. I seriously don't know what I'd would do without my phone, it has everything on it! I have the black one - although I'm longing for the white one. I like to keep a cover on my phone to protect it from scratches, but I get bored of them really really quickly and end up accumulating a tonne of cases! This case however has actually been on my phone for several months now as I love it!

This is the first ever issue of Glamour magazine I have ever bought. I was bored one day and decided to buy it because I could easily fit it in my bag when I needed to go to class. It's actually a really good magazine - this won't be news to many people.

That's it, nothing else in my bag really needs an explanation...WAIT! I've just realised that I forgot to include two things in my bag contents. I usually keep a larger notebook than the one pictured (for lecture notes) and my flat/car keys but I have been using both of these today so they weren't in my bag.........

This is actually it now. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I carry round with my daily. If you didn't then I'm sorry but I know lots of people do enjoy reading these :)

xoxo
