WISH YOU WERE HERE...

Here is another university project I had to do, again in the style of a photo shoot, but this time the idea was to produce an entire fashion spread under the theme 'Wish You Were Here'. This was a really great project and I loved every minute of it from taking the photos and laying them all out, to adding the text.

I'm really pleased with the finished spread and this just gives me more preparation for my final year project of creating a whole magazine. I love the whole design and photography elements jus as much as the writing itself!

OUTFIT | AZTEC & OMBRE

jacket, dress & boots (via ebay): topshop, belt: primark, necklace: warehouse

I thought I'd step outside and take advantage of the nice (ish) weather today. It's funny that it's gone from snowing and raining yesterday to bright, if not a little cold, sunshine today; I wonder how long this will last. Anyway, I bought this dress a few weeks ago from Topshop and I absolutely love it. The print almost looks although the whole dress is knitted and the back (although not pictured) has a lovely cut out detail. I wore it with a belt to break up the print a bit and then paired it with my leather jacket that I pretty much wear with everything!

Now, I'm not usually one for dainty little necklaces, I much prefer larger more statement pieces, but with the print of this dress I thought this feather necklace was the perfectly subtlety. One thing that you may or may not of noticed is that my hair is different and thats because I decided to get it ombre after feeling rather uninspired by my previous highlighted hair. I am over the moon with how it turned out, and curly, I love how natural it looks - I'm yet to be a fan of it when it's straight though.

IAMEMMAWILDE.COM

This is just a quick post to say that I now have my own domain name at iamemmawilde.com which is so so so much easier to remember! I've wanted to get rid of the annoying .blogspot.co.uk for a while now but just haven't got round to it until now. Hopefully this should make my blog a whole lot easier to find and also easier to say!

GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS | BEST DRESSED

Taylor Swift in Donna Karen
Taylor Swift wore a satin, burgundy Donna Karen Atelier gown with sheer side panels and low open back. This is very different to her usual embellished, sequinned gowns and is much more of a chic look with a mermaid style cut giving the perfect silhouette. Taylor kept her hair simple with a side twist bun and wore matching coloured drop earrings.

Emily Blunt in Michael Kors
Emiy Blunt wears a very fitting, golden embellished Michael Kors gown with side cut outs and a slight mermaid style. She wore her hair in a high bun and paired the whole look with berry coloured jewels  and a gold jewelled clutch.

Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen
Nicole Kidman wore a black, fitted Alexander McQueen dress with mesh detailing at the waist and contrasting gold studs around the neck. Her jewellery was slightly mismatched with various coloured bracelets but this is overlooked by the dress giving a very simple silhouette.

Lucy Liu in Carolina Herrera
Lucy Liu wowed in a duck egg, strapless dress with an oversized skirt and an unusual floral print. Worn with a side plait in the hair and minimal jewellery, the dramatic shape of the dress and unexpected nature works perfectly together this time.

first ever yankee candle | rose gold | minnie mouse | disney day | thirsty fun at mcdonalds | bedside table | new hair | ootd | collar tips

This week has been a bit odd, it started with heading back to university for two days and spending ages on a mega bus - fun times. Then I just took the rest of the days as time off, watching some movies, enjoying my amazing smelling yankee candle and getting my hair ombre which I love!

PEOPLES CHOICE AWARDS 2013 | LEA MICHELE IN ELIE SAAB

Last night was the People's Choice Awards and by far, the best dressed of the entire night for me had to be Lea Michele wearing a bright pink, Elie Saab mini dress with bead embellishments and lace panels. She paired the striking dress with a pair of matching strappy heals and simple jewellery, although, these are hardly noticeable worn with this amazing dress; this has to be one of my favourite looks of all time! For once a great look was achieved without a huge, dramatic dress. Nice and simple does the job this time, Lea, take note!

REVLON LIP BUTTER IN BERRY SMOOTHIE

Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie: Boots/Superdrug (£7.99)

I have been wanting to try another Revlon lip butter since I picked up Strawberry Shortcake earlier last year, but with an almost £8 price tag, I didn't really think they were worth it. I did however see that Boots had quite a few of their Revlon items discounted to £5 and so I snapped up two lipsticks, one being another lip butter in the slightly darker shade of Berry Smoothie.

I've found that the formulation of this is a little different to my other one in the sense that it's less glossy, although still has slight flecks of shimmer that are barley noticeable. In the tube, Berry Smoothie looks a lot darker than Strawberry Shortcake but on the lips there is only a slight difference; this is definitely a 'your lips but better' kind of shade which I love for days when you just want a real natural look.

The only issue with lip butters as a whole is the lasting power which is only around two hours if you're lucky. That's why I was a little sceptical to pay £8 again so waited for a discount. It's not a total let down though because as these are a 'butter' formula, they are very moisturising and much like a lip balm so regular application isn't a problem.

FASHION STYLING PHOTOSHOOT

So for those of you that aren't aware, I'm currently mid way through a Fashion Journalism degree and as part of my second year, I chose to do a fashion styling module to get a feel for what other parts of a magazine are like. The task was to style and photograph a shoot to produce one final cover image under the chosen theme of 'Tribute to Castelbajac'. It did start out as a group project for the styling and shooting and as a group we chose to target it to ID Magazine, which gave us sort of a free reign in styling and editing.

The editing process was an individual effort and I'm really pleased with my final outcomes and thought I'd share them with you, starting with the final cover image...

And here's a few other covers I came up with as possibilities...

So that was my fashion shoot in a nutshell. With the theme being Castelbajac, we thought going for Mickey Mouse styling would reflect some of his pieces and then the make-up and styling went a little eccentric fitting in well with him as a designer too.

new book | peppermint hot chocolate | new things | dvd corner | tuna pasta | new phone case | lovely elle cover | beautiful sky | boots goodies | favourite perfumes | journey | socks!

This week I seem to have bought quite a few random things here and there; you really don't realise until all the photos go side by side just what you do buy in a week! Anyway, today I travelled back to university for a couple of days (I'm going back home on Tuesday!) and as you can imagine the bus journey was just thrilling - I actually did a major amount of work so it was a good journey surprisingly.

I just have to give my pug cushion a mention of its own here because how adorable is it! Even those of you who aren't pug lovers will have to admit that it is so cute; I saw it in Primark and actually ran to it with open arms. This will have to keep my pug dream alive until I'm older and can get a real one. Also, I received my issue of Elle in the post this week and I have to say this is my favourite magazine cover of a long long time. I liked the new stand cover but when I saw this it blew me away, well done Elle!

FEELING LIKE A CHANGE...

So, those of you who have known me personally for a while now will know that my hair has pretty much been the same for forever! It's blonde highlighted on the top and dark underneath - it gets lighter every time though! I do change it occasionally, I've had it dark red/brown, dark brown, blonde streaked, I've had a full fringe (NEVER again!) and I've had a side fringe, but every time I always end up going back to how it is now; I think I just get bored of it for a while.

Anyway, I'm now at that point where I am ridiculously bored of my hair and I want a real change and I'm contemplating going down the ombre route. Now I get the ombre 'trend' has been done a million times over and everyone is probably tired of it now but I have never really fancied it until now. I've found a few photos to give me ideas but I'm really undecided whether to go for it or not; opinions would be welcomed!

I love these three types of ombre, but I'm definitely leaning more towards the top image, I just love that!  Decisions decisions! I'll update you with whether or not I go for it but in the mean time I'd love to hear your thoughts on ombre.

ANNE HATHAWAY COVERS HARPERS BAZAAR UK

Anne Hathaway is the February cover star of Harper's Bazaar UK with what I can only describe as an awkward, well styled shot. The styling and concept are great, and I love the colours but I'm just not a fan of the awkward pose and face, this is a real disappointment, especially as it's the lead up to what I'm sure will be a great awards season for Anne. On a good note, the accompanying editorial looks promising and the interview a good read.

Are you a fan of Anne Hathaway's cover? Will you be buying this issue?
